Practice Staff
Practice Manager
Our manager, Heather Lovatt, handles our administration and finance, service planning, policies and
procedures.
Surgery Manager
Maureen Tyrrell manages our team of receptionists and organises all the day to day functions of the
surgery.
Receptionists
Our team of receptionists will be happy to register you and your family, assist you in making appointments
with any of the clinical team, deal with repeat prescriptions and answer as many of your questions as
possible. They do a difficult job very well. Please remember that if you do need to be kept waiting or seem
to be asked one or two irritating questions, they are only carrying out our instructions to them to help the
practice run smoothly. They try to keep both the patients and the doctors happy! This is not easy - please
be patient!
Practice Nurses
Caroline Foster, Elsie Palmer and Jennie Stone form our strong team of practice nurses. They are highly
experienced and run a number of clinics dealing with important aspects of health promotion such as diabetes,
asthma and coronary heart disease.
They run asthma, diabetes, heart disease, travel and baby immunisation clinics and, of course, seasonal
'flu' clinics. The full range of specialist clinics run by both nurses and/or doctors is listed on
the clinics page of this website.
Treatment Room Nurses
Selvi Donald and her colleagues are available by appointment to handle dressings, suture removal, ear
syringing and other treatments and investigations.
Health Care Assistant
Patients needing regular monitoring, such as blood tests, cholesterol, blood pressure and drug levels, will
see our health care assistant, Andrea Hill, for their tests. Andrea also gives flu vaccinations and helps patients who wish to stop smoking.
District Nurses
Patients who are confined to their homes and who need nursing assistance may arrange with their doctors for
a community nurse to call. The hospital will normally arrange for a nurse to call on patients discharged
early and who still require nursing treatment at home.
Sue Bradley, community health care assistant, also runs phlebotomy (blood test) clinics for the practice
and works with the district nursing team.
Health Visitors
Jill Cox and Sue Malton give advice on health care, particularly for expectant mothers and small
children. If you have a problem affecting your health they can put you in touch with sources of help. To
contact them phone 01784 883637 or 883635.
Students
We are fortunate to have medical students attached to our practice for short periods. If you do not wish to
have the student present during your consultation, please inform the reception staff prior to seeing the
doctor.
